I’m Paralyzed So What Do I Do Now?

Today I’m sitting at my desk looking out the window at 6 inches of a fluffy white dusting of new snow. Rod Brandt, one of my coaches, and myself were supposed to travel to Lima, Ohio today and have a meeting with a “Fitness Guru” by the name of Donna Krech. We were planning on developing a new program for her 200+ fitness centers across the US.

However, as Rod stated, “I’m a wimp” and I decided to cancel the 2 1/2 hour drive because of the “expected” new snow. I became paralyzed with the idea of snow and decided not to make the drive.

I failed to ACT and guess what happened? It quit snowing just before midnight. Today the skies are sunny and clear, the roads are plowed and clean and now we need to wait another week to meet with Donna.

The damn snow paralyzed me and my thinking because I had all of these negative feelings and thoughts about driving on slippery roads, therefore nothing got accomplished. Inaction caused no action. Consequently, I stopped myself from acquiring another national affiliate. I hate not having accurate thinking it’s one of the strategies that when I DON’T APPLY IT, it makes me just absolutely angry with myself.

Do you have something that’s paralyzing you from moving forward with your businesses? Have you taken the time to put them on a 3 x 5 card? Then decide on the action that must be taken to overcome being paralyzed.

Again, here’s a repeat, It’s A New Year! Stop being paralyzed, go do something you really hate doing. Overcome those fears. We all have fears we must overcome. I can guarantee you I personally will not rationalize “Oh It’s Snowing” and tell myself I must stay home….Heck, if that’s the way I truly feel, I should move to Florida, there’s no snow there to disrupted my accurate thinking!

Next time I have an appointment set I will at least get on the road to see for myself how slippery and slushy the roads are and then make an accurate decision!! Not one based on a predetermined fear.
